International Women’s Day 2024

Graphic Text International Womens Day 2024

This year, as part of the worldwide celebrations of women’s achievements, there are two major themes. The IWD organization and UBC’s theme is #InspireInclusion to encourage us to imagine a gender-equal, diverse, equitable and inclusive world. The Government of Canada’s and United Nation’s themes are Invest in Women: Accelerate progress. Inclusion and progress go so well together.

UBC’s Faculty of Medicine (FoM) highlighting its talent and thought leaders asked FoM women to share their perspectives on the 2024 them #InspireInclusion. For International Women’s Day, the nominated outstanding women – learners, faculty and staff members who are transforming health for everyone, share their perspectives on the 2024 theme.

Our director, Kellie Thiessen, nominated UBC Midwifery Professor Dr. Saraswathi Vedam to be recognized on International Women’s Day.

It’s a call to action and a reminder that gender equality is one of the most effective ways to build healthier, prosperous, and inclusive communities. We all have a role in building a future where everyone can reach their full potential. It is time to act – because women’s success is everyone’s.
