International Day of the Midwife 2023!

Today we celebrate midwives! With midwifery being legal in British Columbia for roughly 25 years (29 federally), there is much cause for celebration and motivation for lifting the profession with all of the milestones reached.

Excitingly, for the first time since 2019, the International Confederation of Midwives is hosting its annual ICM conference this year in beautiful Bali. The International Day of the Midwife; originated from the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) (celebrating its 100th anniversary just last year!). Midwives from all over the globe will be gathering in a manner befitting the 2023 campaign “Together Again: From Evidence to Reality,” and some of our team members and faculty will be in attendance.

If you’ve come this far, consider celebrating a midwife. The Canadian Association of Midwives campaign #CelebrateMidwives runs the entire month of May. You’re encouraged to share a photo or short story about a special midwife you would like to celebrate.
