Congratulations to Lorna McRae, and Drs. Cecilia Jevitt and Bill Rowe on the publication of their chapter, “Perinatal Substance Use Disorders,” in the 4th edition of The Oppression of Addiction. 

Drs. Jevitt and Rowe published the original chapter from the United States. With the writing of the 4^th edition, they wanted to be sure the social work practice was compatible with Canadian standards. Lorna McRae provided the perfect expertise. Lorna, who was a social worker before becoming a midwife, provides care to pregnant individuals with substance use concerns in Victoria. She is a long time UBC Midwifery faculty member and clinical preceptor. This chapter provides general information on substance use in pregnancy and is useful reading for any health care student or provider.
